The Print Club of Rochester

Carol Acquilano

I’ve been doing very little design planning for these most recent prints (reduction woodcuts), working more spontaneously during the carving and inking phases. Consequently it has minimized the complexity of the process. It’s more fun! My imagery derives from a continuous stream of sketching and painting that happens in the studio, in nature and in airplanes.

Carol is a Graduate of The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston MA, and Empire State College, NY. She has attended professional workshops at New York Center for Books, Pilchuck Glass Center, Women’s Studio Workshop, Salmagundi Club NY, and Center for Conservation in Philadelphia. Thirty years as a museum professional, she serves as caretaker for works on paper collection, archival matting and framing and box-making aficionado. Traveling as museum courier and artist-in-residence has taken her to numerous places abroad. Carol is well versed in plein air painting and urban sketching. Her studio in the Anderson Arts building, Rochester New York, is home base for painting and printing editions.
